各位教友 : 轉眼已是五月了，天主教會把五月定為「聖母月」，以便我們好好地孝敬她。我記得小時候，我的媽媽會在每日下午四時，帶著我們去教堂向聖母獻花，通常我會坐在一旁，我們一起唸聖母經，然後由身穿白裙的女孩子們負責獻花；男孩子們則負責在六月向耶穌聖心獻花，這安排實在天衣無縫，令每人都能適時地獻上自己的心意。聖母月裡，鮮花環繞著聖母像，色彩斑斕，散發醉人的芬芳。五月天，也是墨西哥滿眼繁花似錦、悅目賞心的好日子。 時至今日，我們仍然習以為常地在聖母月裡，向天上的母親獻上美好的心意，不論是鮮花、聖母經，又或是其他，我們都盡心把最美的奉上，以表示我們對聖母的敬愛。 這個主日是母親節，也恰巧是墨西哥的母親節，雖然墨西哥人正為流感侵害，我仍相信他們一定如往年般，向聖母獻上愛情與敬重！ 藉此機會，我要恭賀牧民處的母親們：母親節快樂！自古以來，當母親從來就不是易事，今日母親的角色，更比昔日繁重。願上主賜給各位母親智慧、耐心及愛，言傳身教你的孩子們，成為敬重上主的人。 與你分享2006年我與媽媽在她生日那天拍的照片！今天我會一如以往地，致電祝我的媽媽母親節快樂，你也會嗎？ 主佑！ 莫靖龍神父 (此乃莫神父致教友書信之意譯，書信內容以英文為準) |

Hello everybody: We are already in the month of May. Catholic devotion has related this month with a special veneration to Our Lady. I remember when I was a child my mum took us to church every afternoon around 4:00 pm to “offer flowers” to our Lady. I usually just sat there because it was usually girls dressed all in white who would go in procession to present the flowers to Mary but we said the rosary all together and the flower were brought afterwards. Boys got to offer flowers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus during the month of June so I thought it was just even and fair that the Catholic calendar had envisioned the possibility of everybody offering flowers in their own time. As a result the images of our Lady were always surrounded by flowers of all colours, smells and shapes that in the month of May are so abundant in the Mexican landscape. Catholics today continue with the devotion of making this month special for our Lady, with rosaries, novenas, flowers and all the different ways we find to express our love for the Mother of God. I think it is a devotion and tradition worth keeping and encouraging, so I entrust the development of this devotion to your own heart. This Sunday is also Mother’s Day and I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all the mothers in our Parish Community. Today (May 10th) coincides also with the Mexican “dia de la madre” or Mother’s day. It will be a different celebration this year due to the swine flu virus affecting the country but I am sure we will find our way to express our love and respect for our mothers; I am planning to ring home and wish my mum all the best as every year just as I am sure you will try to do as well. Once again for all the mums in our parish I wish you the best and I will keep you very close to my heart during the Eucharistic celebration. It has never been easy to be a mother but these times I think it is even harder, may the Lord grant you the wisdom, patience and love to be the best examples of love and self sacrifice for your children. Enjoy your day because I honestly think you really deserve it.
