Dear Parishioners:

I want to start this week’s article thanking you all for your participation during the Liturgies in Holy Week. Lots of people were involved in the planning and also in the actual liturgies and so I also want to extend my gratitude to them for making this a very special time of prayer and reflection about the mysteries at the core of our faith.

Now we are in the time of Easter, a time when we joyfully celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Easter is the time when we meditate how this event transforms and changes our lives. It is important to keep an eye on the first Christian community and how she learned to put that faith into practice.

Life in a parish is not only about liturgies or devotions. The Holy Eucharist is presented as the centre and the source of the Christian life, but there are some other things that happen in the parish, on this occasion I would like to mention some of those.

As you know we have been trying to create more spaces to develop our Youth Group, so far I have to be honest and admit that we have not been very successful. Now we are trying to develop a different idea, we are moving the time for Youth Group to 10:15 in the mornings every Sunday. Hopefully this will give the chance to young people who attend mass in the morning to stay behind and be able to participate. Hopefully it will work. So please let others know.

The second thing I want to mention is about the Children’s Liturgy on the second and fourth Sundays. I think there is not enough participation and I am concerned our Children may not be receiving the Christian formation they deserve. I understand that sometimes families want to stay together during the whole mass, but sometimes I am not sure children can follow the readings or the explanations given and parents do not always make sure their children understand what the readings were about and what the meaning for our lives is.

I leave you with these two thoughts and also with my best wishes for this Easter Season.

Peace in Jesus
